Title: From Fashion to Fourier to F-Formations. Or: How Descartes Became A Fashion Icon.

Abstract: This talk on the intersection of fashion, mathematics and social computing is recycling a recent lecture for fashion students. I will give an overview on my previous work as a fashion designer, integrating mathematical principles to creative practices; and then briefly present my more recent research on exploring textile sensors to capture postural movement and social behaviours. We will go from visualising prime numbers as knitting structures and tailoring "black hole" suits to measuring pressure of buttocks movement with trousers and using textiles to distinguish speakers from listeners...
